Comfort Inn North Shore – About us
Our hotel has been a favourite of visitors to North Shore Sydney for over 30 years. The hotel was built on the site of three old Californian Bungalows characteristic of Lane Cove and the surrounding area and operated as The Lane Cove Inn for 10 years. The corner of Pacific Highway and Longuevillle Road about 50 metres north of the hotel is well known for previously housing the Lane Cove Fire Station.
During the 1980’s the hotel became a member of Constellation Hotels and was renamed ‘Country Comfort Lane Cove’. The hotel operated with this identity for many years, becoming a landmark of the area.
In 2003, the Hackney Family purchased the property after 25 years of previously operating country motels in Murrurundi NSW, Toowoomba QLD and Kiama NSW. The Pines Flag Inn in Kiama was the premier 4 ½ Star motel of the town and incorporated the fine dining restaurant, Sandy’s, a favourite of locals for special occasions.
Country Comfort Lane Cove posed an exciting new challenge and within 6 months an extensive renovation was completed and the hotel was re-launched with Choice Hotels Australasia as Comfort Inn North Shore. Soon after the onsite restaurant obtained a full liquor licence and was also re-launched with a Mediterranean and home style menu as Terracotta Licensed Restaurant.
Not associated with Country Comfort, the Comfort brand has been popular across the USA and Europe for over 30 years. In 1999, Flag Hotels International introduced the Comfort, Quality and Clarion hotel brands to Australia and converted their 400 Australian franchise hotels to the new brand identities. As the Hackney Family had been associated with Flag Hotels for over 10 years the new Comfort brand was an obvious choice for the North Shore hotel.
Today, our hotel still attracts many corporate guests and visitors from regional areas due to its quiet off highway position. Comfort Inn North Shore continuously benefits from ongoing renovations however our guests already enjoy our significant improvements and features such as Fujitsu Inverter Technology Air Conditioners and Broadband Internet access.
Our rooms now represent good value, clean and comfortable accommodation and our prestigious location enjoys a leafy, safe environment unique to Sydney’s North Shore.
